Ultimate Tasmania Discovery with Trade Travel

A Beautiful Poem By Lois Hosie

Tour: Monday 14th - Saturday 26th October, 2024

On the 14th of October  2024
We started our adventure of Tasmania to explore
Before the night was over our first great grandchild was born,
We were both on clover when we found out in the morn

First we saw Port Arthur where all the convicts came
With all the many ruins the place is not the same
Next day was Bruny Island; the day was not too bright
A lovely place to visit; back to Hobart for the night

Next day it was raining for the cruise to Peppermint Bay
With lots of food and drink to have, who cares anyway!
A sunny day we woke to for our long trip to Queenstown
With lunch at Tarraleah Estate the homemade food went down

Our trip to “The Wall” was amazing; the wood carvings there were grand
The hours and the patience, no one could understand
Tonight was movie night at the Paragon
After another lovely meal, then the show was on

It was about the damming of the Franklin, where much ado was made
As to whether it should go ahead and so it was delayed
So after many protests Tassie was divided
Until the High Court said “NO DAM” so then it was decided

A cruise down Gordon River really was amazing
We saw some dolphins on the way and the sun was blazing
On Sarah Island we were told the story of the convicts
Then back on board the ferry where we had more food and drinks

Next was Cradle Mountain on a bright and sunny day
We saw the devils and the quolls and Gustav and Kate’s chalet
Next day we sailed the Tamar down to Cataract Gorge
The rocks and all their beauty were not to be ignored

Then on to Brickenden House for lunch of sandwiches and slice
Then a tasting at the Sauce Company which really was quite nice
Next day we saw the Platypus House which was most informative
Then off to see the seahorses to learn how they breed and live

The afternoon was Beaconsfield to learn about the mine
Then on to Moores Hill winery for the tasting of their wine
Back again to “Lonnie” where we were very glad
To rest before our dinner where more food and wine were had

Next day we stopped for coffee at a place called Legerwood
Then on to lunch at the “Pub in the Paddock” which was very good
At night we saw the penguins come from the beach at Bicheno
Even though they were amazing, we were frozen from head to toe

Freycinet was beautiful, the Orford lunch was great
Then back to Hobart for our farewell dinner and to celebrate

We have made so many friends on this wonderful trip
Our Probus motto is: “Fun, Friendship and Fellowship”
We have added a fourth ”F” which stands for “Food”
Which most of us will all agree has been very good

Now there’s Moose who is our driver, full of information
And Kaylene is our tour guide, both of whom are best in the nation
There’s Frank and Lynn, Wendy and Peter, Anne and Rick and then there’s Anika
There’s Barry and Jen, Peter and Rose, then there is Mary who everyone knows
Stole Ian’s fish at the Best Western Inn, but don’t worry, Mary, all is forgiven!!

So now it’s time to say goodbye to all our newfound friends
We wish you all a safe trip home
And may we someday meet again

 Ian and Lois Hosie
